# Understand workspace access and missing controls

> Separate membership, permissions, feature access and paid allowances.

Access has several parts. Being a member of a workspace does not automatically mean you can change its billing, use every feature or create unlimited products.

## Check four things

1. **Account:** are you signed in with the address that was invited or given access?
2. **Workspace:** is the correct workspace selected?
3. **Role and permissions:** what access has the owner assigned?
4. **Features and allowances:** does this workspace have the feature, plan and capacity needed for the action?

## Check your role

Open **Settings → Members** and look for your account in **Active Members**, if that page is available. The displayed role helps explain restricted actions. Team and role configuration can further affect access where enabled.

Owners handle ownership and billing responsibilities. Administrators can manage permitted workspace operations. Members use the tools made available to them. Limited or client access can differ by configuration. Use the permissions actually assigned to your account; a generic role table cannot guarantee every enabled tool.

## If a control is missing or rejected

Tell the owner the exact action you need, rather than asking for full ownership automatically. A feature may be unavailable in the workspace even when your role permits ordinary editing. A visible control may still be rejected when the server checks permissions or limits.

If you have just been invited, accept with the invited address and reopen the workspace. If expected access is still missing, send the owner or support the workspace, action and exact message.

## Credits, plans and product slots

[Credits](https://sellify.ai/docs/credits) pay for metered usage. Product slots limit the number of products. Check the workspace’s subscription separately from its membership and credit balance.
