# Prepare and manage product images

> Choose clear product images and understand upload, discovery and primary-image controls.

Hero images show the product itself. Use images that match the actual item, including its color, shape, packaging and visible details.

## Choose a useful image

Prefer a sharp product shot with the whole item visible. A clean or transparent background can make it easier to place the product in an ad. Avoid an image with a price or promotion that is no longer valid.

Use your own images or images you have permission to use. A public image is not automatically available for commercial reuse.

## Add images

1. Open the product in **Products**.
2. Find **Hero images**.
3. Select **Upload images** to choose a local file, or **Pull from URLs** to request images from the saved product pages.
4. Wait for the upload or discovery to finish.
5. Open the resulting images and check that they show the correct product.

Follow the file picker and any validation message for accepted inputs. The interface recommends a PNG with a transparent background for a clean cutout. Discovery and AI image actions can use [credits](https://sellify.ai/docs/credits).

**Pull from URLs** stays disabled until the product has at least one URL in **Product URLs**; hovering it says **Add at least one product URL to enable pulling.** It reads the images already on those pages. **Create your own** opens **Create your own hero image**, where you describe the image you want and Sellify generates it, at about 14 credits per image (your provider configuration can change that). The **Add image** tile in the gallery takes PNG, JPG or WebP files up to 8 MB; a PNG with a transparent background works best.

## Choose the primary image

Use **Set as primary hero image** on the image you want to prioritize. Look for **Primary** on the selected image. Primary status helps identify the preferred product image; it does not guarantee that every creative will use it in the same way.

## Review AI edits

The available image actions can include editing with AI and removing a background. Review the result before using it. Check labels, proportions, logos, texture and included accessories; an edit should not make the product appear to have features it lacks.

Remove an image only if you intend to remove it from the product's available material. Keep an original copy of important product photography outside the app.

## If discovery returns nothing

Check that the source page is public and contains a usable product image. You can upload an appropriate image instead. Avoid repeatedly requesting discovery from the same inaccessible page.
