Create a Google Ads campaign

Three steps take a product and your Sellify creative to a paused Performance Max campaign in Google Ads.

Select Create campaign in the Google Ads top bar. The wizard has three steps, shown down the side: Setup, Creative and Review.

Every campaign it creates is a Performance Max campaign, targeted at the United States, and paused. You choose the product, the goal, the budget and the creative.

Before you start

A Google Ads account has to be connected, or the first step will stop you. See Connecting your account.

Have your creative ready in Create ads if you want to pick from your library rather than upload. You will need one square image and one horizontal one.

Step 1: Setup

The heading asks What are you advertising?

Choose the product

If you have products saved in Sellify, pick one under Pick an Ads Maker product. Otherwise, paste the product page address into Paste your product or store URL.

The address must start with https. Google Ads will not accept an http page.

Check the Google Ads account

The Google Ads account card shows which account the campaign will be created in. Owners and admins can select Manage to change it.

Pick a goal

Choose Sales, Leads or Traffic. Sales is the default, and it is the only goal that needs Merchant Center.

Set a daily budget

Tap a preset ($20, $50, $100 or $200) or drag the slider anywhere from $10 to $200 in $5 steps. Sellify shows the rough monthly total underneath.

Continue

Select Next: Creative.

Country and target return on ad spend are set for you and shown on the review step. You do not choose them here.

Step 2: Creative

The heading is Pick your creative. Google needs your logo, two product images in different shapes, and a set of headlines and descriptions.

Ad images

Under Ad images you will see your Sellify ad library, with All ads and any folders you have made as filters at the top. Two slots need filling:

  • Square image (1:1)
  • Horizontal image (16:9)

Select an image to put it in a slot, or use Upload image on the slot to add one from your computer. Uploads can be JPEG, PNG, GIF or WebP up to 5 MB, and Sellify saves them to your library as well.

The two images must be different files

Google rejects one image reused in both shapes. If you only have one, generate or upload a second in the other shape.

If a slot has nothing suitable, the picker says so and offers Open AI Ads Maker to generate one.

The Logo card pulls from your workspace settings. Pick Logo (light), Logo (dark) or Workspace logo. If none is set, the card shows Required and tells you to add a logo in workspace settings first.

Headlines and descriptions

Headlines · min 3 takes up to 15 headlines of 30 characters or fewer. Descriptions · min 2 takes up to five descriptions of 90 characters or fewer.

Sellify suggests text from the ad you picked, its product and its angle. Select the ones you want, or type your own and add them.

The Live preview on the right shows how a search ad would look with your text.

Select Next: Review when the slots, logo, headlines and descriptions are all filled.

Step 3: Review

The heading is Review & launch. The status card at the top says one of three things.

Ready to create campaignNothing is blocking you.
Needs review before creatingOne or more items below need fixing first.

Each blocking item is listed with what to change, like a missing horizontal image or too few headlines. Go back to the Creative or Setup step to fix it.

Sales campaigns also show a Retail readiness panel covering Merchant Center, the Google Ads link, approved products, conversion tracking and the listing group. Items marked Blocks creating this campaign have to be resolved; items marked Required before going live can wait until after creation.

Below that, the summary lists what will be created: product, goal, accounts, final URL, daily budget, country, target return on ad spend, and a count of the creative you selected.

Select Create campaign. There is no extra confirmation, because nothing starts spending.

What happens next

When it works, the page says Campaign created paused and reminds you that it will not spend until someone enables it in Google Ads.

From here you can Open go-live checklist, View in Google Ads or Start a new campaign. See Campaigns and go-live for the checklist.
