# Connect Sellify to your AI tool

> Add Sellify to Claude, ChatGPT, Grok, Cursor, VS Code or any AI tool that supports MCP, by signing in or with an MCP key.

You can let an AI tool such as Claude, ChatGPT, Grok or Cursor work in Sellify for you. It connects through [MCP](https://sellify.ai/docs/glossary#mcp) in one of two ways.

- **Sign in with your Sellify account.** Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, VS Code and Codex connect this way.
- **Use an MCP key you create.** Cursor, Windsurf, Gemini CLI, Zed and Mistral connect this way, and so can any tool that lets you add a header.

Either way, the tool works in one workspace and can only do what you allow.

## Before you start

Two things need to be in place.

1. **Your workspace has an active Sellify plan.** A workspace without one cannot connect.
2. **Your role allows it.** Owners and admins can always connect. A workspace owner or admin decides what members can do (see [Control MCP access for your workspace](https://sellify.ai/docs/developers/mcp/manage-access)).

## Connect any AI tool

Sellify works in any AI tool that can add a custom or remote MCP server. The Sellify MCP address is:

```text
https://app.sellify.ai/api/mcp
```

The steps are the same everywhere.

1. In your AI tool, add a custom connector or remote MCP server.
2. Paste `https://app.sellify.ai/api/mcp` as its address.
3. [Sign in and allow access](#sign-in-and-allow-access) in the Sellify window that opens, and pick your workspace.

If the tool cannot sign in, [create an MCP key](#use-an-mcp-key) instead. Add it as a header named `Authorization`, with the value `Bearer` followed by a space and your key.

> **Directory listings and custom connectors**
>
> Some AI tools also list Sellify in their app directory. Each directory sets its own rules, so the tools in a listing can differ from the tools on this page. Both sign in to the same Sellify workspace.

AI tools change their menus from time to time. If a step looks different, follow the general steps above or your tool's own guide to adding an MCP server.

### Claude

On claude.ai, open **Customize → Connectors**.

1. Select **+ Add**, then **Add custom connector**.
2. Name it `Sellify`, enter `https://app.sellify.ai/api/mcp` as the server URL, and select **Continue**.
3. Select **Continue** again. If Claude asks how people connect, choose **Sign in now** and **Use Claude's published identity**.
4. Select **Add**, then **Connect**.
5. [Sign in and allow access](#sign-in-and-allow-access) in the Sellify window that opens.

Sellify then appears in your list of connectors. Turn it on for a chat from the **+** button, under **Connectors**. A connector you add on claude.ai also works in the Claude desktop and mobile apps.

On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, a Claude owner adds the connector in **Organization settings → Connectors**. Each member then selects **Connect** and signs in with their own Sellify account.

### Claude Code

Run this in your terminal:

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user sellify https://app.sellify.ai/api/mcp
```

Start Claude Code and type `/mcp`. Select **sellify**, choose **Authenticate**, then [sign in and allow access](#sign-in-and-allow-access) in the browser window that opens.

You can also connect Claude Code with an MCP key. After you [create a key](#use-an-mcp-key), the sheet shows an **Add to Claude Code** box with a ready-made command to copy.

### ChatGPT

ChatGPT connects through developer mode, on the web only. On a Business, Enterprise or Education plan it can read and change things in Sellify. On a Pro plan, developer mode can only read data, so ChatGPT cannot make ads.

1. In ChatGPT, open **Settings → Apps → Advanced settings** and turn on **Developer mode**.
2. Create an app, name it `Sellify`, and enter `https://app.sellify.ai/api/mcp` as its server URL.
3. Choose **OAuth** for authentication, then create the app.
4. [Sign in and allow access](#sign-in-and-allow-access) in the Sellify window that opens.

On a Business plan, only ChatGPT admins and owners can use developer mode. On Enterprise and Education, a ChatGPT admin turns it on for you first.

### Grok

1. Go to [grok.com/connectors](https://grok.com/connectors) and select **New Connector**.
2. Select **Custom** and enter `https://app.sellify.ai/api/mcp` as the MCP server URL.
3. [Sign in and allow access](#sign-in-and-allow-access) in the Sellify window that opens.

On Grok Business or Enterprise, a Grok team admin adds the connector first. In the xAI console, they open **Grok Business → Connectors**, select **+ Add Connector**, then **Other**, and enter the same address. Each member then connects at grok.com/connectors.

### Cursor

Cursor connects with an MCP key. [Create a key](#use-an-mcp-key) first.

Open your personal MCP file (`~/.cursor/mcp.json` in your home folder), not one inside a project, so the key never ends up in a shared code repository. Add this entry, with your own key in place of `YOUR_KEY`:

```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "sellify": {
      "url": "https://app.sellify.ai/api/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_KEY"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

Save the file and restart Cursor. Sellify then appears in Cursor's list of MCP servers with its tools turned on.

### VS Code with GitHub Copilot

1. Open the Command Palette (Ctrl + Shift + P, or Cmd + Shift + P on a Mac) and run **MCP: Open User Configuration**.

2. Add Sellify to the file and save it:

   ```json
   {
     "servers": {
       "sellify": {
         "type": "http",
         "url": "https://app.sellify.ai/api/mcp"
       }
     }
   }
   ```

3. Start the server when VS Code asks, and confirm you trust it.

4. [Sign in and allow access](#sign-in-and-allow-access) in the browser window that opens.

In Copilot Chat, switch to agent mode. Select **Configure Tools** in the chat box to check Sellify's tools are turned on.

### Windsurf

Windsurf is now called Devin Desktop. It connects with an MCP key. [Create a key](#use-an-mcp-key) first.

1. In the Cascade panel, open the **...** menu at the top right and select **Open MCP config file**.
2. Add this entry, with your own key in place of `YOUR_KEY`, and save the file:

   ```json
   {
     "mcpServers": {
       "sellify": {
         "serverUrl": "https://app.sellify.ai/api/mcp",
         "headers": {
           "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_KEY"
         }
       }
     }
   }
   ```

### OpenAI Codex CLI

Run this in your terminal:

```bash
codex mcp add sellify --url https://app.sellify.ai/api/mcp
```

Codex opens a browser window. [Sign in and allow access](#sign-in-and-allow-access) there. If the window doesn't open, run `codex mcp login sellify`.

### Gemini CLI

Gemini CLI connects with an MCP key. [Create a key](#use-an-mcp-key) first, then run this with your own key in place of `YOUR_KEY`:

```bash
gemini mcp add --transport http --scope user --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_KEY" sellify https://app.sellify.ai/api/mcp
```

Start Gemini CLI and type `/mcp` to check Sellify is connected.

### Zed

Zed connects with an MCP key. [Create a key](#use-an-mcp-key) first.

Open **Settings → AI → MCP Servers**, select **Add Server**, then **Add Remote Server**. Keep it in your own Zed settings, not a project's settings, so the key never ends up in a shared code repository. Use this entry, with your own key in place of `YOUR_KEY`:

```json
{
  "context_servers": {
    "sellify": {
      "url": "https://app.sellify.ai/api/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_KEY"
      }
    }
  }
}
```

### Mistral Le Chat

Le Chat is now called Mistral Vibe. It connects with an MCP key. [Create a key](#use-an-mcp-key) first.

1. Open **Connectors** from the sidebar and select **+ Add Connector**.
2. Open the **Custom MCP Connector** tab. Enter `Sellify` as the **Connector name** and `https://app.sellify.ai/api/mcp` as the **Server URL**.
3. Select **Connect**. When Mistral asks how to sign in, choose a bearer token and paste your key.

Turn Sellify on for a chat from the **+** button, under **Tools**. On a Team or Enterprise plan, a Mistral admin adds the connector.

### Perplexity

Perplexity connects with an MCP key, on the Pro, Max and Enterprise plans. [Create a key](#use-an-mcp-key) first.

1. Open **Account settings → Connectors** and select **+ Custom connector**.
2. Select **Remote**. Enter `Sellify` as the **Name** and `https://app.sellify.ai/api/mcp` as the **MCP Server URL**.
3. Under **Authentication**, choose **API Key** and paste your key. Choose **Streamable HTTP** as the **Transport**.
4. Tick the box to accept the risk, then select **Add**.

On Perplexity Enterprise, an admin must first turn on **Allow members to add custom connectors**.

## Sign in and allow access

When your AI tool connects by signing in, Sellify opens a window with three steps.

1. **Sign in**

   Sign in to Sellify the way you usually do. If you're already signed in, Sellify skips this step.

2. **Choose a workspace**

   Pick the workspace the tool can use. If a workspace is greyed out, the reason shows under its name. Sellify skips this step when you only have one workspace and it's already selected.

3. **Allow access**

   Sellify shows what the tool is asking for, like **Ad Spy: read** or **Ads: write**. Select **Allow access** to connect, or **Cancel** to stop.

The connection works in that one workspace. To use a different workspace, disconnect Sellify in your AI tool and connect again.

## Use an MCP key

A key is a secret you paste into your AI tool. Each key acts as you, in the workspace you create it in. It stops working if you leave that workspace.

![The MCP keys page in Settings, listing each key's name, scopes, status and daily credit limit, with the Create key button at the top right.](https://sellify.ai/images/docs/walkthroughs/settings-mcp-keys.webp)

1. **Open your keys**

   Make sure the right workspace is selected, then open **Settings → MCP keys**. It is listed under your personal settings.

2. **Start a new key**

   Select **Create key**.

3. **Name it**

   Under **Name**, write which tool will use it, like `Cursor`.

4. **Choose when it expires**

   Pick an **Expiration**: **No expiration**, **30 days**, **90 days** or **365 days**.

5. **Set a daily credit limit**

   **Daily credit limit** is the most credits this key can use in a day. It starts at 500 and can be anything from 1 to 10,000. The day resets at midnight UTC, and credits still come from your workspace balance.

6. **Choose scopes**

   Tick the **Scopes** the tool needs. **Ad Spy: read** and **Ads: read** are ticked to start with. See [what each scope allows](#what-each-scope-allows).

   ![The Create MCP key sheet with Name, Expiration, Daily credit limit and Scopes, where Ad Spy: read and Ads: read are ticked.](https://sellify.ai/images/docs/walkthroughs/settings-mcp-key-create.webp)

7. **Create and copy it**

   Select **Create key**, then copy the key from the **MCP key** box.

> **You only see the key once**
>
> After you close the sheet, Sellify cannot show the key again. If you lose it, revoke it and create a new one.

Treat the key like a password. Anyone who has it can act as you in that workspace, within its scopes and daily credit limit.

Tools that use a key send it as an `Authorization` header with the value `Bearer` followed by a space and your key.

## What each scope allows

A scope is one kind of access. A key has the scopes you tick. A sign-in has the scopes the tool asked for on the **Allow access** screen. Your AI tool doesn't see tools that need a scope it doesn't have.

| Scope                | What it allows                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             |
| -------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Ad Spy: read** | Search ads and brands in Ad Spy, and list the Ad Spy ads you've saved. Live searches use credits. |
| **Ads: read** | Read products, sales angles, boards and generated ads, check how a generation is going, and get download links for ads. |
| **Ads: write** | Make ads from a product and sales angle or from a written brief, make ads from a reference ad, make more versions, edit ad images and ad copy, remove backgrounds from ad and hero images, and generate sales angles, hooks and hero images. Uses credits. |
| **Products: write** | Create and edit products, offers, notes, sales angles and hero images, and fill in a product from its web page. Filling in from a web page uses credits. |
| **Library: write** | Create and organize boards, move ads to and from **Recently deleted**, and delete them for good after you confirm. |
| **Workflows: write** | Nothing over MCP yet. |

Every connection can also search this Help Centre and make links into the Sellify app.

> **Changes need an owner or admin**
>
> Only workspace owners and admins can make changes through an AI tool. A member's connection or key can read data and search Ad Spy, even if it has write scopes.

## Load fewer tools

Sellify gives your AI tool a lot of tools. Some AI tools work better, or only allow, a shorter list. You can ask for fewer by adding options to the end of the Sellify MCP address.

| Option        | What it does                                                                                                                  |
| ------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `read_only=1` | Only tools that read or search. Your AI tool sees the same list as a key with only **Ad Spy: read** and **Ads: read** ticked. |
| `toolsets=` | Only the areas you list, separated by commas. |

These are the areas you can list after `toolsets=`.

| Area        | Tools for                                                              |
| ----------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `ad_spy` | Ad Spy searches, brands, saved ads, Ad Spy boards and video ad scripts |
| `products` | Products, offers, notes, research documents and hero images |
| `angles`    | Sales angles and hooks                                                 |
| `image_ads` | Making ads, editing ad images and ad copy, and winning ads |
| `library` | Your generated ads, downloads and **Recently deleted** |
| `boards`    | Boards for your generated ads                                          |

Every connection keeps the tools for getting an overview of your workspace, checking your credits, searching this Help Centre and making links into Sellify.

Put `?` before the first option and `&` between options. Use the address in place of `https://app.sellify.ai/api/mcp` in the steps above.

| Use                                            | Address                                                                                 |
| ---------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Research competitors without changing anything | `https://app.sellify.ai/api/mcp?read_only=1&toolsets=ad_spy`                            |
| Make ads from your products                    | `https://app.sellify.ai/api/mcp?toolsets=products,angles,image_ads`                     |
| Read your products and ads                     | `https://app.sellify.ai/api/mcp?read_only=1&toolsets=products,angles,image_ads,library` |

Options only narrow the list. Your AI tool still only gets the tools its scopes allow. If an area name or the `read_only` value is wrong, Sellify refuses the connection and says what to fix. Sellify ignores an option name it doesn't know, like `read_ony`, and loads every tool, so check the spelling if your AI tool still shows everything.

## What it costs

Your AI tool spends credits for the same work you'd pay for in the app. Reading your data, organizing boards and editing products are free.

| Action                                                          | Cost                                                                      |

| **Generate more hooks for an angle** | About 7 credits |
| **Fill in a product from its web page** | About 4 credits |

Before a paid action, your AI tool tells Sellify the most it is allowed to spend. Sellify stops the action if the cost could be higher, or if it would go over the daily credit limit.

A key uses the **Daily credit limit** you set. A sign-in connection uses the daily credit limit you set when you connect, 2,000 by default. Each key or connection can also run up to 100 live Ad Spy searches a day. See [credits](https://sellify.ai/docs/credits) for your balance and top-ups.

## Open results in Sellify

Results include links straight to the matching page in Sellify, like a product, a board, a set of generated ads or an Ad Spy brand. Open them to review the work in the app.

Some things only happen in the app, like launching ads on Meta or making ads from your own reference images. Ask your AI tool for a link to the right page, then finish there.

## Download your ads

Ask your AI tool to download some ads, a whole generation or a board. It replies with a link that downloads them as one ZIP file, up to 100 ads at a time.

Open the link in the browser where you're signed in to Sellify. If you're signed out, Sellify asks you to sign in first and then starts the download. Each link stops working after 30 minutes, so ask for a new one if you need it later.

## Disconnect a tool

For a tool that signed in, remove Sellify from that tool's connectors or MCP servers.

For a key, open **Settings → MCP keys**, find the key, and select **Revoke**. Then select **Revoke key** to confirm.

> **A revoked key stops working right away**
>
> Every AI tool using that key loses access to Sellify straight away. This cannot be undone. Create a new key if you need to connect again.

## If something's not right

### The workspace I want is greyed out

**Why this happens:** The tool cannot use that workspace. The reason shows under its name, for example an owner or admin has turned off app connections for members.

**What to do:** Pick another workspace, or ask the workspace owner or admin. If the reason doesn't make sense, contact support and name the workspace.

### Sellify says the link has expired

**Why this happens:** The sign-in window was open too long, or it was opened from an old link.

**What to do:** Go back to your AI tool and start connecting again.

### I don't see MCP keys in my settings

**Why this happens:** You're in a different workspace, or an owner or admin has turned off MCP keys for members.

**What to do:** Check the selected workspace first. Then ask your workspace owner or admin. If they don't see **MCP access** in their settings either, contact support and name the workspace.

### My AI tool says the key or connection is not valid

**Why this happens:** A key was revoked, it expired, or part of it was cut off when it was copied. A sign-in can also expire.

**What to do:** For a sign-in, disconnect and connect again. For a key, open **Settings → MCP keys** and check its **Status**. If it isn't **Active**, create a new key and update your AI tool. Make sure the header value starts with `Bearer` and a space.

### My AI tool can't find a tool I expected

**Why this happens:** The key or sign-in doesn't have the scope that tool needs, or the Sellify address has [options that leave it out](#load-fewer-tools).

**What to do:** Check the address in your AI tool first, and remove `read_only=1` or add the area to `toolsets=`. Scopes cannot be changed on an existing key. Create a new key with the scopes you need, update your AI tool, then revoke the old key. For a sign-in, disconnect and connect again, and check the list on the **Allow access** screen.

### It says only owners and admins can make changes over MCP

**Why this happens:** You're a member of the workspace. Members can read data and search Ad Spy, but cannot change anything through an AI tool.

**What to do:** Make the change in Sellify yourself, or ask an owner or admin to run it.

### It says I've reached a daily limit

**Why this happens:** The key or connection has used its daily credit limit or its 100 live Ad Spy searches for the day.

**What to do:** Wait for the reset at midnight UTC. If a key regularly needs more, create one with a higher **Daily credit limit**.

### It says I don't have enough credits or need a subscription

**Why this happens:** The workspace balance is too low for the action, or the workspace has no active plan.

**What to do:** Open **Settings → Billing** in Sellify to add credits or check the plan, then try again.

### It says access to MCP was turned off for members

**Why this happens:** A workspace owner or admin changed who can use MCP.

**What to do:** Ask them to change it back in **Settings → MCP access**, or to do the work themselves.

If it keeps failing, contact support. Bring the workspace name, the AI tool you used, the time it happened and the full error message, including any request ID. Never send a key itself.
