# Why do my ads not show my actual product?

> The product has no hero images, so there was no real product shot to build the ad around.

**The product has no hero images.** Without one, ads still generate, but they show an approximation of your product rather than the real thing. This is the most common reason ads come back looking generic.

The build screen warns you before you start. When the selected product has no hero images it shows a note that ads will still generate but will not include the actual product shot, and points you to the product detail page.

## Fix it

1. Open the product and add hero images. Accurate photos of the real item, with the right shape, colors, labels and packaging, give the model something to work from. See [Prepare and manage product images](https://sellify.ai/docs/products/images).
2. Go back to **Create an ad**. When you build from your product, four hero images are selected by default and the picker tells you how many you can choose. Pick the shots that best represent the item.
3. Generate again and compare the result with your photos.

If the product has hero images and the ad still shows the wrong item, check that the correct product is selected at the top of the form before generating.
