# Follow brands

> Follow the brands worth watching so their new ads collect in one place, and open a brand's page to see everything it runs.

Following a brand keeps its ads together so you do not have to search for them again. Competitor research stops being something you remember to do and becomes something that accumulates.

## Follow a brand

Four ways, all doing the same thing:

- **Follow brand** in the menu on any ad card. It reads **Unfollow brand** once you follow.
- **Follow** at the top of a brand's own page.
- **Follow** on a brand tile under **Top brands you can follow** on the **Following** page, or **Follow all** to take the whole strip.
- **Add brand manually** on the **Following** page, which searches brands by name.

If Sellify has not collected a brand's ads yet, the brand page offers **Request brand scrape**. Collection runs in the background; check back later.

## Two places called Following

**Following** means two slightly different things depending on where you are.

| Where | What you get |
| ---------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Following** view on the Discovery page | An ad feed. The newest ads from the brands you follow, mixed together. |
| **Following** page in the Ad Spy menu | A brand roster. The list of brands themselves, not their ads. |

Use the feed when you want to see what is new. Use the roster when you want to manage who you follow.

Fetching the feed is metered: each live fetch of a followed brand's ads costs about 0.15 credits. See [Understand credits](https://sellify.ai/docs/credits).

## The feed

Open **Ad Spy → Discovery** and switch to the **Following** view. The sort menu adds **Recommended** alongside **Newest**, **Top Performers** and **Stars**.

Narrow the feed with the brand picker, which offers **Select all** and **Clear all** so you can apply a subset. Useful when you follow thirty brands but only care about four this week.

## The roster

The **Following** page has two parts.

**Top brands you can follow** suggests brands to add, with chips for **All**, **Top Brands** and a high-ticket group. If you pick one of your products, a **Recommended for your product** strip suggests brands matched to it, with **Refresh** to rerun the matching. Refreshing brand recommendations costs about 3 credits. Where Sellify describes a service business, the label reads "service" instead of "product".

**Brands you're following** is the roster itself. Search it, sort it by **Most active ads**, **Brand name (A-Z)** or **Recently followed**, filter by niche, and set **Rows per page** when the list gets long. Each row opens that brand's ads.

## Unfollow a brand

On the roster, the button next to a brand reads **Following** and changes to **Unfollow** when you hover it. You can also use **Unfollow brand** in an ad card's menu, or the button on the brand's own page.

## Look at one brand

Selecting a brand name opens **Brand Spy**, that brand's own page. It has two tabs.

**Overview** opens with **Brand intelligence**, a set of cards on how the brand runs ads:

| Card | What it shows |
| --------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Media mix** | The split across **Videos**, **Images & memes**, **Carousels** and **Other**. |
| **Active-ads trend** | How many ads were launched month by month. |
| **Most popular hooks** | Opening lines from the brand's video ads. |
| **Most used landing pages** | Where the ads point, with **View ads using this landing page** to filter to them. |

**All ads** lists everything the brand is running. Sort by **Most shown**, **Most active**, **Longest running**, **Newest** or **Oldest**, over a window of **3mo**, **6mo**, **12mo** or **All time**. **Refresh** pulls the brand's latest ads from Meta; a refresh costs about 0.15 credits.

Seeing one competitor's full set at once tells you more than twenty scattered ads from twenty brands, because you can see which concepts they committed to and which they tried once and dropped.

## Who to follow

- Direct competitors selling the same thing.
- Brands one size up from you, since they are usually testing more.
- Brands outside your category whose advertising you admire.

Following itself is free and the roster is easy to prune, so err on the side of adding. Fetching and refreshing their ads is what uses credits.

## If something's not right

### A brand I follow shows no ads

**Why this happens:** Sellify has not collected that brand's ads yet, or the brand has nothing running.

**What to do:** open the brand's page. If it offers **Request brand scrape**, use it and check back later. If the brand shows ads there but not in the feed, adjust the brand picker and apply again.

### The recommended brands strip is empty

**Why this happens:** recommendations are matched to a product, and none is selected.

**What to do:** pick a product from the selector above the strip. If you have no products yet, see [Add your first product](https://sellify.ai/docs/products).
