Save ads with the Chrome extension
Install Sellify Ad Spy from the Chrome Web Store, connect it to your workspace with a setup code and save ads from the Meta Ad Library and Instagram.
The Sellify Ad Spy extension puts a Save to Sellify button on ads in the Meta Ad Library and on Instagram. Ads you save land in Saved ads, ready to organize into boards.
It is for people who research directly in the Ad Library and do not want to find the same ad twice.
Open Ad Spy → Extension to set it up. The page has Add to Chrome, Open Meta Ad Library and the setup-code panel, and walks through the same steps as below.
Before you start
You need Google Chrome and permission to install extensions on your machine. The extension only works against a workspace that has Ad Spy and the extension turned on. If either is off, saving fails with a message saying Ad Spy, or the Ad Spy Chrome extension, is not enabled for this workspace.
Saving an ad through the extension costs about 0.15 credits when Sellify has to fetch it from Meta. Saves completed from Sellify's own archive, and attempts to save an ad that is already saved, do not incur the charge. See Understand credits.
Set it up
You do this once per workspace.
Install from the Chrome Web Store
Select Add to Chrome on the extension page. It opens the Chrome Web Store listing for Sellify Ad Spy; select Add to Chrome there and confirm Add extension.
Pin Sellify in your toolbar
Select the extensions icon in Chrome, find Sellify and pin it. Pinning keeps the extension visible while you research.
Open the extension
Select the Sellify icon in your toolbar. The popup opens on Connect your workspace.
Create your setup code
Back on the Sellify extension page, select Create setup code. Sellify copies it to your clipboard and shows it once, so copy it now if the clipboard was blocked.
Paste the setup code into the extension
In the popup, paste the code into Workspace setup code, tick I understand and agree to this data use, and select Save connection. Confirm the Sellify app URL the popup shows matches the one on the setup page. The popup then reads Connected to Sellify.
Open Meta Ad Library
Select Meta Ad Library under Open a source in the popup. Chrome opens the Meta Ad Library in a new tab.
Save an ad and add it to boards
On any ad, select Save to Sellify. Once it reads Saved to Sellify, select Add to boards to file it in one or more boards.
Instagram works too
The extension adds the same Save to Sellify button on Instagram. Select Instagram under Open a source in the popup to get there. The setup page only talks about the Meta Ad Library, so this one is easy to miss.
What happens to a saved ad
If Sellify already holds a usable copy of the ad in its archive, it saves that copy directly. Otherwise it fetches and verifies the ad from Meta before adding it, so what lands in your workspace matches the real ad rather than whatever was on screen.
Saved ads go to Saved ads. Add them to boards from the Add to boards dialog the extension shows straight after saving, or later from Saved ads.
Setup codes and data use
Setup codes are per workspace and per person. The extension page lists your active codes with when each was created and last used, and lets you revoke one. You can hold up to 10 active codes; revoke an old one if you hit the limit. Revoking a code stops the extension that used it from saving until you connect it again.
The popup has a Data use switch. While it is on, saving sends the public ad identifier and your workspace token to Sellify. Switch it off and the extension pauses: no ad identifiers and no save requests are sent until you turn it back on. The popup still checks its connection status with your workspace token when it opens. Disconnect clears the connection entirely.
